Kraken Switches from LayerZero to Chainlink after Kelp DAO Hack

Crypto exchange Kraken has announced it is moving its cross-chain infrastructure from LayerZero to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to secure its kBTC and future wrapped tokens. The transition follows a trend of several protocols migrating away from LayerZero after the April Kelp DAO exploit, which resulted in significant losses. Kraken cited Chainlink’s enterprise-grade security, independent node network, and risk management requirements as primary reasons for the change. Other protocols, including Kelp DAO, Solv Protocol, and Re, have also migrated substantial TVL to Chainlink CCIP recently, while LayerZero continues to face scrutiny and a decline in its native token value.
