Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced “Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments,” a new infrastructure designed to allow AI agents to make independent financial transactions. Developed in collaboration with Coinbase and Stripe, the system utilizes Coinbase’s x402 protocol and Stripe’s Privy wallet to facilitate real-time, autonomous payments using stablecoins. Currently, the system supports micropayments for digital services like APIs and data feeds, with future plans to enable complex purchases such as travel bookings. This initiative aims to support the emerging “agentic economy,” where software agents act as independent economic entities.
