TON Settles 6,000x Faster Than Bitcoin, Pavel Durov Claims

Telegram founder Pavel Durov has highlighted data showing that The Open Network (TON) achieves transaction finality in just 0.6 seconds, making it approximately 6,000 times faster than Bitcoin. This performance increase follows the Catchain 2.0 upgrade, which reduced block times and finality significantly. While TON leads in speed, other networks like Avalanche and Sui also recorded sub-two-second confirmation times, contrasting sharply with slower chains like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Cardano. Additionally, Telegram has become a major validator for the network, staking 2.2 million TON to balance the validator pool, though this move has sparked some debates regarding potential centralization.
