Blockstream Launches Jade Core to Simplify Bitcoin Self-Custody Without Sacrificing Security

Blockstream has launched Jade Core, a new hardware wallet that aims to lower the barriers to Bitcoin self-custody. Building on the existing Jade lineup, the device maintains an open-source security model while offering a more intuitive user experience through guided onboarding and tighter integration with mobile and desktop applications.

The device features Bluetooth pairing and ensures that private keys remain offline, with all transaction signing occurring on the device to minimize online threats. Key security elements include open-source hardware and firmware, Blind Oracle PIN protection to prevent unauthorized access, and improved display capabilities for clearer transaction verification to reduce user error.

This launch is part of Blockstream's strategy to connect retail-facing tools with institutional infrastructure. By focusing on usability without compromising core security, Blockstream positions Jade Core as a vital entry point for users looking to move away from centralized exchanges and reduce counterparty risk.
