Tokyo-listed Metaplanet is broadening its Bitcoin strategy beyond simply holding the asset, establishing Metaplanet Ventures and Metaplanet Asset Management. Metaplanet Ventures will invest approximately $25 million in Japanese Bitcoin infrastructure companies, focusing on lending, payments, and compliance. Simultaneously, Metaplanet Asset Management, based in Miami, will focus on digital credit and Bitcoin capital markets, offering investment products and advisory services. This expansion aims to connect Asian and Western capital markets and build a more robust ecosystem around Bitcoin, despite the company recently reporting a significant net loss due to Bitcoin's price volatility. CEO Simon Gerovich emphasizes Japan's strong regulatory framework and the need for further development of Bitcoin infrastructure within the country.
