The Ethereum Foundation is actively experimenting with "DVT-lite," a simplified version of Distributed Validator Technology (DVT), to make setting up staking infrastructure significantly easier for institutions holding substantial amounts of Ether. Vitalik Buterin shared that the foundation is using this method to stake 72,000 ETH, aiming for a near one-click setup process where operators simply launch software across multiple machines using the same key. Current DVT systems are complex to deploy, which Buterin suggests has contributed to the dominance of large staking providers. DVT-lite seeks to automate the coordination of networking, keys, and communication between nodes, thereby broadening participation and enhancing network decentralization by reducing the required infrastructure expertise for operators.
