Visa and Stripe's Bridge Expand Global Stablecoin Card Program
Summary
Global payments giant Visa and Stripe-owned Bridge are significantly expanding their stablecoin card partnership, aiming to roll out stablecoin-linked Visa cards across more than 100 countries in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East by the end of the year, up from an initial launch in Latin America in April 2025. Crucially, the companies are now testing onchain settlement through Visa’s pilot program, enabling issuers and acquirers to settle transactions directly using stablecoins via Bridge's partnership with Lead Bank, rather than converting to fiat first. Visa's head of crypto, Cuy Sheffield, stated this expansion brings the speed and programmability of stablecoins into the settlement process. Furthermore, Visa is exploring support for Bridge-issued stablecoins, which are programmatically created by businesses, allowing them to use custom stablecoins seamlessly within their card programs.
