Uniswap wins full dismissal in long-running scam token class action

A federal judge in the Southern District of New York, Katherine Polk Failla, dismissed with prejudice the remaining state-law claims against Uniswap Labs and founder Hayden Adams in a class action lawsuit concerning scam tokens traded on the protocol. The plaintiffs alleged Uniswap facilitated fraud through its marketplace, but the court rejected this, ruling that merely offering a platform does not constitute substantial assistance of fraud, reiterating that holding smart contract code drafters liable for third-party misuse defies logic. Earlier federal securities claims were dismissed in 2023. Uniswap officials celebrated the ruling, noting it sets precedent by rejecting liability for developers when open-source code is misused by scammers.
