Cake Wallet Launches Bitcoin Lightning Network Support With Full Self-Custody and Privacy Defaults

Cake Wallet has announced its integration of the Bitcoin Lightning Network, enhancing its advanced privacy wallet features. This move follows previous Bitcoin-specific updates, positioning Cake Wallet as a leader in mobile wallet technology. Unlike many multi-coin wallets, Cake Wallet supports sophisticated Bitcoin technologies like Silent Payments and Payjoin, protecting users from tracking and scams. The Lightning Network integration, powered by the Breez SDK and Spark, allows self-custody without managing a Lightning node, and includes a custom Spark implementation for enhanced privacy. Cake Wallet emphasizes limited visibility of transaction data to safeguard user activity. The update also introduces UI improvements and social features like Birdpay for sending crypto to X.com accounts, alongside existing features like xStocks for trading tokenized equities.
