a16z-backed Eco launches Programmable Addresses to automate cross-chain payments

Eco, a stablecoin infrastructure platform supported by a16z Crypto, has released Programmable Addresses, a feature designed to automate cross-chain fund routing for developers and institutions. This new capability allows a single address to function across Ethereum-compatible chains and Solana simultaneously, embedding execution logic directly into the address to automate tasks like treasury consolidation and payroll distribution, thereby eliminating the manual bridging and swapping traditionally required. CEO Ryan Saxe stated this shifts the paradigm from receiving funds passively to having the receipt process designed proactively. The system uses Eco’s intent-based execution layer to ensure atomic settlement across networks, abstracting away complexities like gas tokens and liquidity fragmentation, with plans to expand support and integrate standards like ERC-7715.
