Strategy Raises STRC Yield by 25 Basis Points to 11.50%
Summary
Strategy chairman Michael Saylor announced that the company is raising the dividend rate on its STRC preferred stock, also known as “Stretch,” from 11.25% to 11.50% for March 2026. STRC is perpetual, meaning there is no specified buyback date, and its variable yield adjusts monthly to encourage trading around its $100 par value and mitigate price volatility. The dividend is paid monthly, with the next payout scheduled for March 31 to shareholders of record in February.
CEO Phong Le indicated that Strategy is shifting its funding strategy for Bitcoin purchases away from issuing common stock toward issuing more preferred shares, noting that preferreds raised $7 billion last year. This transition to preferred capital is expected to be a significant focus.
Despite this move, Strategy continues to accumulate Bitcoin amid a market drawdown that has significantly reduced BTC's price since October. The company reported a substantial net loss of $12.4 billion for Q4 2025, causing its common stock price to drop significantly from its November 2024 peak. The current price of BTC is below Strategy’s average purchase cost of $76,020 per Bitcoin.
