Bitcoin Recovers to $68K After Iran Supreme Leader Killed

Bitcoin (BTC) prices recovered to $68,200 following reports of the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, which followed US-Israeli air strikes on Iran. The asset erased its earlier dip to $63,000, recovering $5,000 in less than 24 hours and returning to Friday's trading levels around $67,350. Analysts suggested the market reacted positively because the news was interpreted as a potential resolution to the US-Iran conflict. The Supreme National Security Council of Iran confirmed Khamenei's death early Saturday morning, alongside the deaths of the IRGC commander-in-chief and the Defense Council secretary. Despite this recovery, Bitcoin closed February down nearly 15%, marking its third-worst February performance ever, and is on track for its worst first quarter since 2018.
