ZKsync sets May 4 deprecation date for Lite as project consolidates around Era

ZKsync has announced that May 4 will be the deprecation date for ZKsync Lite, Ethereum's first zero-knowledge rollup, as the project shifts its focus to the newer ZK Stack ecosystem and ZKsync Era. Block production on the older network will cease on this date, permanently freezing its final state, though funds will remain claimable. Users are encouraged to withdraw assets before the cutoff for convenience. ZKsync Lite, which lacked smart contract functionality, had its development halted in March 2023 following the launch of ZKsync Era, a zkEVM designed to support arbitrary smart contracts. Approximately $33.9 million remains bridged to ZKsync Lite, and a read-only API will be available for at least one year post-shutdown to support data access.
